О курсе

The aim of the course «Contemporary Russian Society» is to focus on the contemporary social and economic challenges that Russia has faced in the recent decades. The course provides students with the skills and knowledge to understand the broad range of social problems in theoretical and applied aspects. It starts with the description of welfare and well-being that shaped the social structure of Russian society in the context of social and economic changes. Different aspects of this problem will be discussed: gender, employment, demographic, migration policies as well as role and influence of stakeholders (the state, NGOs, business and civil society) in social policy implementation. Students will gain the knowledge about quantitative and qualitative methods for empirical data collection and analysis.
