О курсе
The course will provide students with knowledge of the main definitions of freedom of peaceful assembly together with freedom of or expression, the key concepts that underpin the definition, and the guiding principles behind the use of these concepts in public policy discourse. The course will specify and outline both core concepts and academic debates over what constitutes them, as well as specify and outline several relevant political and legal case studies. The course critically engages with the literature that defines the parameters of freedom of expression and freedom of peaceful assembly, and situates them in broader public policy, political science and social science debates about civil and political rights and the state-citizen relationship.
